A great opportunity has become available for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. 

Who? The Air New Zealand Aviation and Occupational Health Unit provides occupational health and aviation medicine services to the Air New Zealand Group. 

What? We require an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to work across multiple business areas all with dynamic needs. The position is based in Auckland. The key responsibility of this role is to deliver an effective evidenced based Occupational Health Nurse advisory service that reduces business risk and complies with business and industry specific legislation and requirements. This is a busy, challenging, and demanding role which operates across a diverse range of work environments and safety sensitive and safety critical roles e.g; flight crew, airports, cargo, customer service, administration, and engineering.

Working collaboratively with peers, business colleagues and contractor service providers your responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-placement fitness for work assessments
  • Employee health assessments including case management; fitness for work; statutory medicals and health surveillance
  • Health risk management and onsite workplace engagement
  • Contribution to continuous quality improvement programmes, strategic initiatives and projects
  • Development and delivery of workplace health education programmes
  • Occupational hygiene project work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand Nursing Council Practising Certificate (or eligibility for a practicing certificate)
  • Hold a recognised tertiary qualification in occupational health or be willing to undertake postgraduate occupational health training.
  • Experience in an occupational health environment, or in the fields of community mental health, addictions, or workplace rehabilitation.
  • A good working knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety legislation and codes of practice.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal; verbal; presentation and written communication skills.
  • Be both self-motivated and work very well as part of a team
  • The ability, confidence and enthusiasm to deliver in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the airline industry is favourable
